Yesterday, out of nowhere, he and Coinneach got into a fight. We broke them up very quickly, but Arthur had got a couple of very nasty bites and had to be rushed to Limerick for emergency treatment. Although the first assessment sounded positive, once Arthur was in surgery it turned out he had severe internal injuries and we were asked for permission to put him to sleep. Right now we are just broken with grief and shock. We have no explanation as to why two dogs who had never shown an ounce of aggression suddenly went into a violent fight. We can’t really accept that Arthur had to pay such a high price.
