My Tikki left me tonight. Shockingly and unexpectedly. My fiercely loyal overthinker. The spookiest of spooks who regarded everyone as a threat. The one who would shout and shout at visitors. It has not sunk in yet. She went from her normal self to gone in one day. This morning she was a bit off and would not get out of bed at first. I thought it was the weather. When I went to let her out later she started to walk, wobbled and suddenly collapsed in front of me. Luckily Evelyn was available and we could get her to the vet immediately (I have not yet found a new van). Tikki, who had always fought like a wild animal, resisted sedation and turned every vet visit into a struggle, was so weak that she let herself be carried into the clinic. She was anemic, her heart rate was elevated and it was obvious something was badly wrong. An hour later we got the news that she was bleeding into her abdomen from a mass on her spleen. She left without a fight. Just drifted off. No more pain or fear, and the only two people she ever allowed to touch her, was with her. There are no words to express how grateful I am to Evelyn for coming to Tikki’s aid when she needed it most.
Fly high my beautiful girl.
