Today Barney and Jenny left for their new lives in Finland. Their departure became rather more dramatic than expected because of a flat tyre. But once a new tyre had been fitted, we got there. The van then decided to turn into a slug and it took a lot of cursing and begging to somehow make it crawl back from Limerick. I’m eternally grateful for downhill roads, and second gear. Very underrated second gear.
